Sewing Kit for Christmas

September 11, 2016 By Faith Leave a Comment

Christmas will be here in fifteen short weeks! Can you believe it?! It’s very difficult to believe when we’ve had 90+ degree temps here in Georgia for almost 80 days.  Oh my goodness, I am so ready for a dip in the thermometer. What better way to forget the heat and humidity than to think of Christmas!

Our sewing ministry is planning to sew for, collect items, and put together 25 boxes for Operation Christmas Child this year.  I’m not sure when the deadline is for the boxes, but I’m sure it is towards the end of October or early November. I’ll post a few of our projects here as we get them together.

Today I got out the Mod Podge, scrapbook paper, and recycled cigar tin to make a little sewing kit for an older OCC child box.

A Winter Mantle

February 21, 2016 By Faith Leave a Comment

Winter mantle decor

After I took down the Christmas decorations from my mantle (failed to show that to you – bad blogger), I decorated it for winter.  Little did I know at the first of January that we would have such warm weather here in the south through the months of January and February. Oh, we’ve had a few nights into the twenties but we’ve had more than our fair share of warm weather.

I can’t help but think that we will surely have some bad weather before the season is over. And if you know anything about Southerners and the “s” word (snow, that is), you will know that an inch of it constitutes emergency action!

A Perfect Rosebud

Isn’t God’s artistry perfect in every way?

Look at that rosebud. Have you ever seen anything more perfect and beautiful?

I’m sure we could all say yes but today, for today, this is His perfection. This and the ones we love so much.

Patriotic Pencil Cups

June 27, 2015 By Faith Leave a Comment

Patrioticpencilcup

I played around with some paper crafting today and with Independence Day just around the corner, I was feeling patriotic.  That’s a perfect combination when you have stars and stripes in your paper stash!

My youngest son decided a couple of weeks ago to makeover his room.  He chose the paint colors and wall decor which inadvertently morphed into an American theme.  I’ll show more of his room later when it is totally complete.

Of course, I had to get involved.  Fortunately my involvement was welcomed.  His desk has no drawers and his pens and pencils were just lying here and there so what’s a crafty mom to do? Make patriotic pencil cups, of course!  This project was simple and I actually took photos of the process. Perhaps I’ll even try to make my first ever tutorial out of it! Stay tuned!
