Coloring Book Cover

November 16, 2015 By Faith Leave a Comment

Coloring books for adults have become very popular these days. We grown-ups are learning that coloring can be a relaxing way to unwind – a fact that we forgot from our younger days.

Our Glitter Girl, our eldest son’s girlfriend, had a birthday recently. Part of his gift to her was a set of nice markers. She is a very hard worker with a full time job while she works toward completion of her doctorate degree. I can only imagine how stressful it would be trying to do it all. To say she is busy is an understatement. She has a creative streak and likes to create art in what little spare time she has.

To go with her set of markers, I bought her a grown-up coloring book – a nice one with thick paper and beautiful images to color. I also made a book cover for it.

Veteran’s Day: Thankful for our Heroes

November 12, 2015 By Faith Leave a Comment

This day is set aside to remember our veterans with gratitude and appreciation. Can you imagine where our country would be without them? Their dedication, hard work, and sacrifice provides us with our freedom. To simply say thank you seems so small compared to what so many have given.

The most beloved veteran in my heart and mind is my dad. He bravely served in WW2 in the South Pacific arena. He was in the Army serving as a medic and cook. He was a truly wonderful man and it was a tremendous blessing to have him as my father.

Pumpkins from Fabric Swatches: How to Make

November 5, 2015 By Faith Leave a Comment

Welcome back! Thanks for coming by to see how I made the pumpkins from fabric swatches.

Pumpkin - fabric swatch

As I mentioned, I had tons of fabric swatches that I had collected over the years and true to form, I simply could not throw them away. After years of collecting, the light bulb went off one day and I came up with these little swatch pumpkins as a way to use all my samples.

Thoughts on the Write 31 Day Challenge – (Re)Purposed Sewing

November 2, 2015 By Faith Leave a Comment

I actually did it! In all honesty I didn’t think I would write for the entire 31 days of the challenge. I couldn’t imagine that I would have enough to say and complete enough projects to feature. In my head, I had even planned what to say about not posting all of the days. Thankfully that unwritten post was filed in the trash.

Look what I won in a random drawing of the participants – a wonderful leather journal that will inspire me to continue to write!

Admittedly, I did have a number of the projects finished before I signed up for the challenge, but only enough for just shy of a week’s worth of posts. I kept my nose to the grindstone however and came up with enough content for the entire month. And you know what? I have more thoughts brewing in my head.

After the first half of the month, I sat down for a brainstorming session and came up with additional ideas, some of which I did not have time to get to. So those will happen and I will show them to you.
