Of the two quilts my friend asked me to repurpose, one was a wedding ring pattern. The former colorful patches that made up the wedding ring were almost totally destroyed leaving the white space of the quilt the most intact.
Some of the pattern around the edges was still good enough to use and because I wanted to showcase the patches,
I decided to make a small project – a zipper bag.
This one is just right to carry some basic cosmetics.
I didn’t want to have the white space right in the middle but due to the worn areas and the pattern, this piece was my only choice with which to work. I took a strip of the patchwork and turned it into a little pinwheel flower stitching it in the middle with a button on top to add some interest.
The lining of the bag uses the backing to the quilt. I’m not sure how the front was so worn but the back was pristine. I’ve got a large amount of that fabric left to repurpose.
Something useful from un-usable. What do you think?
Back tomorrow with more!
xoxo, Faith
